The Roots of the Carrot

What is the carrot root seeking, moving seven feet down into the Earth? Is it just water alone or is the pureness of the nutrients in and of the dirt healthier seven feet down? Can you see the roots of the carrot reach what it is after and then taking it in? Can you imagine the moment in time when the nutrient in the ground and the carrot root become one. This oneness in the human is where all anxiety is soothed, where all dualism is surrendered, where the words of Borges are actualized,”Praised be the love wherein there is no possessor and no possessed, but both surrender.”

Florida Representative John Tobia (R - District 31) conducted a survey prior to the 2012 legislative session on a number of issues - the results are available at the link below. Based on just the question about drilling for off-shore oil and gas (77% in favor), it seems his more progressive constituents may have ignored the survey. If true, then these results may be skewed to the right of even right-leaning Brevard County. (Read more to see attachment)

This post is a review of The New Jim Crow, by Michelle Alexander. It is related peripherally to campaign financing because there are powerful economic forces who thrive on the nightmare presented in her book, and which will spend mightily in political contributions and lobbying to prevent any change. The book is a powerful one, and I recommend it for all SCPA members.

Who pays most of the taxes?

Mr. Donald Gilliland, a Florida Today's Community Columnist, wrote on February 2, 2012 that the wealthy are the ones who pay most of the federal income taxes. It's unclear exactly how he arrived at that conclusion because when I checked his sources, I came up with something completely different. By Ollie George.
