The Florida adoption law which prohibited gays and lesbians from adopting their foster children was rightfully ruled unconstitutional by a Miami appeals court in September.
Attorney General Bill McCollum, Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) all announced they would not appeal the courts ruling.
"Within a week of the appellate ruling, anti-gay activist lawyer Mathew Staver (author of Florida's marriage ban) of the national extremist organization, Liberty Counsel, told a Christian news service that he intends to speak with Florida's conservative legislature to introduce a new anti-gay adoption statute in 2011. Staver said he is "in it for the long haul" in his efforts to prevent Florida's gay families from having legal protections. He will find support in Governor-Elect Rick Scott who said he opposes adoption or foster parent privileges for gays and lesbians." http://www.vickinantzfilms.com/
