LIVE at the:
Unitarian Universalist Church of Brevard, 2185 Meadowlane Avenue, West Melbourne, FL,
On our 250th national anniversary, Americans are confronted with a governmental shift of power and treasure from the masses of people and our priorities to the pockets of billionaires, the Epstein Class, the weapons industry, the techbroligarchy and the military. Among the most essential of services, healthcare has become unaffordable for large segments of our population. Millions have lost Medicaid or are unable to afford ACA, even as Trump is now asking for a $1.5 trillion defense budget.
SCPA believes that healthcare is a right, not a privilege. No one should have to choose between the debilitating debt of healthcare services and illness or pain. But that is where the present administration has taken us. To analyze the need and find solutions, SCPA will present Saving Healthcare: a panel of three experts and a Q&A that will include a candidate for public office to add another perspective to the discussion.
Guest speakers are Dr Steven Blythe, a former congressional candidate, to speak on the impact of the severe cuts to healthcare in the Big Bad Bill on the patients in the clinic where he works; and Medicare For All Florida founding members, Angeleen Neely-Sardon and Lorenzo Canizares to explain the consequences of the privatization of Medicare, the loss of Expanded Medicaid, and the un-affordability of private insurance for both employees and business owners. They will provide us with an understanding of
universal health care, Medicare for all, and other options.
SPEAKERS
Dr. Steven Blythe DO
Family Practice Practitioner
Dr. Blythe’s medical career has extended from Latin America to rural Maine in the U.S. where he did it all – including delivering babies, covering the ER and making house calls. He established a private practice in Melbourne while also working at the VA Clinic in Viera, retiring nine years ago. He also assists at a community health center. This extensive experience has given him a hands-on perspective of our current health care situation. In 2008 he was the Democratic candidate for congress in the then 15th District, with a platform including Medicare for all, he received 43% of the vote against Bill Posey.

Lorenzo Canizares
Retired Labor-Community Organizer.
He is a founding member of ‘Medicare for All Florida’, a nonprofit advocating for guaranteed healthcare for all residents and currently serves on it’s Board of Directors. He is also Co-Chair of the Labor-Community Alliance of South Florida (LCA) and one of the tenets of that organization is support for Medicare for All. Lorenzo believes that healthcare is a basic human right.

Angie Neely-Sardon
Medicare For All Florida founding member
