STOP GUN VIOLENCE
JUNE IS NATIONAL GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
Every day, more than 300 people are directly impacted by gun violence in the United States.
To date in 2023 the US has had 15,661 gun related deaths & 12,620 gun related injuries. Of those, 245 were mass shootings or murders.

Gun related deaths are now the leading cause of death among children 0-17.
So far in 2023, 658 children have been killed by a gun and 1610 have been injured. There has been at least 52 incidents of gunfire on school grounds, resulting in 20 deaths & 37 injuries.

In an average year, over 10,300 hate crimes in the United States involve a firearm—more than 28 each day. The vast majority of hate crimes are directed against people of color, religious minorities, and LGBTQ people.
Nearly half of all women murdered in the United States are killed by a current or former intimate partner, and more than half of these intimate partner homicides are by firearm. Women are five times more likely to be murdered by an abusive partner when the abuser has access to a gun and the use of firearms in domestic violence situations increases the risk that there will be multiple fatalities.
In summary, easy access to guns gives a single individual the means to shatter numerous lives and whole communities in a matter of minutes. This is why the permit less carry House bill 543 set to go into effect on July 1st is completely reckless.
We @ Awake Brevard Action Alliance say:
ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
NOW is the time to talk about it-NOW is the time for ACTION!
